Driven by tenacity and a strong desire to make the best of his skills, Shahnawaz Salahuddin has begun his professional career in 1986 with the admission to Rutgers University, which he later switched for the Georgetown University. After graduating in 1990, he joins the ranks of Saatchi & Saatchi New York in 1991 where he was part of the communication team for brands like Olay and Toyota Dealers Association. During this time, he also had the opportunity to be involved in the publicity for Benazir Bhutto’s US visit, which included work in publications like the Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times, LA Post, USA Today and Wallstreet Journal.
In 1994 he started a new position, client-side, for Westat in Washington DC as the professional in charge of Public Health and Epidemiology. Forward 4 years and we find Shahnawaz returning to Pakistan to take on the challenges of Group Account Director for the Wahenda D’arcy advertising agency. Part of his portfolio here is composed of Mobilink, P&G, Vick and Mars, brands for which he had to convey the mission and purpose, following the strict client guide while, at the same time, translating the market needs into compelling communication together with the creative department.
From this agency he moved on to work directly with the client as the in-house Sr. Manager of the marketing department at Mobilink. This venture proved to be a very successful one for both Shahnawaz and the client as only 3 years after joining Mobilink his managerial actions have boosted him to the position of Marketing Director.
After two more years in this position, he decided to take matters into his own hands and built an independent advertising agency – BR&W.
Based on a vast experience of developing communication and marketing strategies mixed with a flair for storytelling, Shahnawaz has added some very important brand names to the agency’s portfolio, and subsequently his: launching GoCDMA WLL phone service, i-mate, Nokia, Samba, Paktel Zong and Mobizone. Creating a personal brand marked by professionalism and vision has earned him coveted positions with highly respectable companies: COO of Sign Source (Pakistan’s largest OOH company), COO of FACT and also COO of OAA.
From 2016 he once again made a brave decision to be a hands-on entrepreneur and started REGO.Life and JADUfone, all while acting as the Executive Director of the Synergy Group from 2017 to 2019.
An honorable mention during his time with the Synergy Group is his involvement in developing Carat (Pakistan’s 3rd largest media planning and buying company) and Synite Digital (top ranked Pakistani digital agency).
As for what the present and future have in store for him… it’s looking bright! This is due to him becoming a member of the Global Team Leaders at Creativecom, an integrated, international network of top professionals in the fields of communication, advertising, production, strategy and marketing.
